It all began when…
The idea for TravelHosts came in Buenos Aires in 2010, when Ben (founder) was travelling around South America.
Some of the travel had been with his Mother, whereby they’d been on a number of organised tours to places like Machu Picchu, The Andes, Amazon Jungle and Valparaiso.
It wasn’t until an experience to the famous Boca Juniors Football Stadium (La Bombonera), that the idea for TravelHosts came to fruition. Like many travellers, Ben was able to sense the difference between an experience with a passionate local and one with a burnt out tour operator.
It’s much like the difference between a meal cooked by a loving Nonna and a pre-cooked frozen dinner. One meal is full of care, passion and love. The other….well, they don’t compare!
It wasn’t until 2016 that things started to happen.
We commenced operations with CycleHosts and offered single day cycling events from Melbourne (Wurundjeri Country), then those day events turned into weekend adventures….
Eventually we reached 2018 and decided to create overseas experiences to places like Japan, Italy, South Korea and Vietnam. These were incredibly rewarding, with many life-long friendships made.
Then 2020 hit! And it was a year of deep reflection and when looking back, we felt that we needed to move forward with TravelHosts.
We can’t wait to share our love and passion for these places…
